Portuguese cutting is a favorite for tanzanite due to its ability to beautifully showcase the stone's natural trichroic properties including blue, purple and pink to red flash. Most often used for a round brilliant stone the Portuguese cut on an oval stone is a spectacular find. This large tanzanite weighs 4.72 carats, measures a proportioned 10.78 X 8.68 X 7.20 mm and is rated VVS1 by the dealer. Using a jeweler's loupe it is very difficult to distinguish any notable inclusions. The stone is precision cut with absolutely no window or dark spots that result in a loss of brilliance. The tanzanite radiates with purple and blue sparks under a variety of lighting conditions as captured in the series of photos. Elegance abounds in this finely crafted 14K white gold ring with detailed scalloped engraving on the inside/outside ring shank and beautifully presented top quality diamond baguettes that are channel set along the ring's shoulders and finely detailed with double milgrain edging.
