Purchased in 1998 this fancy Portuguese cut tanzanite not only comes with gorgeous color but a superb price tag. This large 3.76 carat tanzanite is American faceted and sports a top quality Portuguese cut. Wonderful color balance between purple and blue is ideally exhibited by the stone whose color is evenly saturated throughout and is medium to rich during daylight and changes to primarily rich during evening light (photos included of both lighting conditions). The tanzanite has near flawless clarity and characteristically is trichroic with daylight producing more of a purple color and night time the stone becomes a darker blue with pink flashes. Most notable is this prized tanzanite's excellent brilliance the result of top cutting and clarity producing maximum light return. On each side of this gorgeous tanzanite is a pear cut diamond of SI1 HI color. The pair of diamonds weigh 0.87 carats total and are bright, precision cut, white and eye-clean. Each of the three stones are set in heavy platinum prong baskets. The ring is made with over 9 grams of 950 platinum and is a size 7 3/4 (re-sizing available).
