Hard to resist such a spectacular presentation of what a Paraiba tourmaline is all about. This large beautiful tourmaline is of Mozambique origin and is certified by the GIT as Paraiba with both manganese and copper elements found within the stone's crystalline structure. Rarely seen in a fancy square beveled edge or step cut (with faceted rounded corners) facet design the tourmaline has excellent blue and green colors with the intensity only seen in Paraibas. The tourmaline is nearly eye-clean except for 2 pin prick and two pin head size colorless inclusions (actually part of the feather like veins within the stone that often carry the copper). These are only detectable upon very close examination. (With 10 X magnification there are colorless feathers and lines or veins apparent in some photos due to enlargement.) The large Paraiba weighs 4.81 carats and measures 9.58 X 9.46 X 6.96 mm. As indicated by the photos vivid blue and green hues fly from within the stone which has superb brilliance with neon-like radiance. A substantial 7.50 grams was used to make the 14K white gold frame which in addition to the tourmaline houses 28 round brilliant diamonds for 0.21 carats total diamond weight. The diamonds are rated SI1 clarity (eye-clean or better) and GH color (bright, white and brilliant). The pendant is 23.5 mm or just under 1 in length and 15 mm or 1/2 wide. The bail has a nice opening able to accommodate most chains (include clasp) up to 2.5 mm (shown on a flat diamond cut wheat chain). The bail can be enlarged to accommodate any chain upon request.
