Spinel's increased popularity in the U.S. is largely noted in high end fine jewelry designs. The variety of rich colors, relative hardness and durablity for jewelery and being naturally untreated makes it an ideal gemstone. Although deeply rooted in Asian and European upscale jewelry markets it has taken longer for the American market to follow suite. This lovely pair of oval brilliant cut Burmese spinels is perfectly matched. They weigh 1.48 carats total, measure 6.2 X 5.11 X 3.09 mm and although native cut and slightly deep it serves the pair well by increasng color saturation without diminishing brilliance (no window or dark patches). Excellent strong primary red with very strong secondary orange result in a very richly colored pair that is four prong set in 14K white gold earring stud mounts.
