I love the soft delicate color of this star sapphire that we found at a gem market in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It has a cottony soft warm blue color with a delicate star shining on it’s face. This star also has been certified by the GIA gem lab as a natural star sapphire.
This star sapphire was mined and cabbed in Burma
FYI-Star sapphires usually have six ray stars, but twelve ray stars are also known. Rarely, when sapphires are cut in a cabochon style, you can see a cat’s eye effect. This effect displays a thin band of light down the center of the stone and is known as chatoyancy
