About 20 years ago when Simply Sapphires was founded, a man contacted me who is a worker for USAID working in Tanzania for the US federal government. his job down there was to primarily help the Tanzanian people better use their resources like their deposits of gemstones including Ruby and Sapphire amongst others. John was also an amateur gem cutter and would buy Sapphire rough (for $100 US a pail) in the local marketplace, facet it himself, send it to me and that was the beginning of our company.
Over the years John introduced me to different vendors in Tanzania and that’s where I acquired this Ruby. Quite a glorious depth of color to this stone, and those cherry sparkles of color throughout its even red color
