One of the best parts of owning a sapphire company is finding the rarer and unusal.Unlike diamonds where you can make two phone calls and get any size, color grade,  and clarity you want, finding a sapphire of any color or size is always an adventure. This is especially true with Star Sapphire.

I've  been star sapphire hunting since about the early 1990's (and started Simply Sapphires in 1998 to fuel my obsession), and finding the rare and unusual are always the best part. I think of all the star sapphire stones I've found this particular piece has to be of the two most unique ones for more than one reason. I had the stone certified by the Burapha University Gem Lab (BGL) in Thailand as its such a unique find

  • Color- It's Yellow, rare to find, even rarer when it's a stone of substantial size
  • Asterism-Clean and bright with 6 good legs
  • One of the properties of this one that really intrgued me was it has a white area on top that blends with the yellow, and I've never seen anything quite like it before, it's really quite a remarkable piece.
